What is Concurrent Enrollment?

Concurrent education is when a high school student is enrolled in a college course for both high school and college-level credit.  The course may be

  • taught on a high school campus,
  • taught on the college campus, or
  • taught by distance/digital technology.

Who is Eligible for Concurrent Enrollment?

  • High school students who have completed the 8th grade,
  • Enrolled in an Arkansas high school or home schooled,
  • Recommended by his/her high school principal, superintendent, or counselor, and
  • the combined college courses and high school enrollment does not exceed a normal academic load.

Student Information

To register for concurrent classes at BRTC, please submit the following documentation:

  • Application (obtain this from your high school counselor)
  • high school transcript
  • shot record (or exemption letter)
  • full set of test scores (ACT, Accuplacer, 9th or 10th grade Aspire, ATLAS)
  • FERPA form

***As of 1/1/2025, concurrent students must have a 2.5 high school GPA to enroll in concurrent classes at BRTC.

A full set of test scores are still required!

Concurrent Course Pricing Update – Fall 2025

Beginning Fall 2025, concurrent courses will be billed at a rate of $65 per credit hour. This rate includes the cost of required textbooks and course materials, which will be provided by the BRTC Bookstore on a rental basis.

Students in grades 10–12 will be eligible for Arkansas "A to A" funding, covering up to 15 credit hours per semester.
