Net Price Calculator
The calculator is designed to give you an indication of how much and what types of financial aid you might qualify for if you are a first-time entering college freshman. This calculator is intended for students who are enrolling for the first time at BRTC on a fulltime basis. However, anyone can use this calculator to estimate expenses.
Based on the information you provide, this calculator will estimate your total out-of-pocket expenses and provide you with resources to help finance your education. Please also understand that the Cost of Attendance represents the maximum amount of financial aid that a student may receive. Direct costs include tuition, fees, and books.
By clicking “I Agree,” you acknowledge that the estimate provided using this calculator does not represent a final determination, actual cost award, financial assistance, or a final net price. Price of attendance and financial aid availability change year to year. The estimates shall not be binding on the Secretary of Education, Black River Technical College, or the State of Arkansas. Students must complete the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to be eligible for, and receive, an actual financial aid award that includes Federal grant, loan or work-study assistance.

Policies
The voter registration requirement was included in the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. In essence, if a participating school is located in a state that requires voter registration prior to election day and/or does not allow the ability to register at the time of voting, then the school must make a good faith effort to distribute voter registration forms to its students. Emails are sent to all currently enrolled students each semester to encourage voter participation. Register to vote! Please email suggestions, comments, or problems with the website to Brandi Chester
Financial Aid & Educational Loans Code of Conduct
As required by the Higher Education Opportunity Act, Black River Technical College adheres to the following Code of Conduct. This Code of Conduct applies to the officers, employees, and agents of the institution.
Code of Conduct Provisions:
- BRTC, its officers, employees, or agents will enter into no revenue sharing arrangements with any lender.
- No officer or employee of the BRTC’s financial aid office (or an employee or agent who otherwise has responsibilities with respect to educational loans) may solicit or accept a gift, from a lender, guarantor, or servicer of educational loans. A “gift” is defined as any gratuity, favor, discount, entertainment, hospitality, loan or other item having monetary value of more than a de minimus amount.
- No officer or employee of BRTC’s financial aid office or employee or agent who otherwise has responsibilities with respect to educational loans, may accept from a lender or an affiliate of any lender any fee, payment, or other financial benefit (including the opportunity to purchase stock) as compensation for any type of consulting arrangement or other contract to provide services to a lender or on behalf of a lender relating to education loans.
- BRTC shall not assign any first time borrower through award packaging or other methods, to a particular lender. BRTC shall not refuse to certify, or delay certification of any loan based on the borrower’s selection of a particular lender or guaranty agency.
- BRTC shall not request or accept from any lender any offer of funds to be used for private education loans, including funds for an opportunity pool loan, to students in exchange for BRTC providing concessions or promises regarding providing the lender with a specific number of title IV loans made, insured, or guaranteed, a specific loan volume, or preferred lender arrangement.
- BRTC shall not request or accept from any lender any assistance with call center staffing or financial aid office staffing. However, certain assistance is permitted such as professional development training for financial aid administrators. Additionally, providing educational counseling materials, financial literacy materials, or debt management materials to borrowers, provided that such materials disclose to borrowers the identification of any lender that assisted in preparing or providing the materials is permitted. Staffing services on a short-term, non-recurring basis to assist BRTC with financial aid-related functions during emergencies, including State-declared or federally-declared natural disasters, federally-declared national disasters, or other localized disasters and emergencies identified by the Secretary is allowed.
- Any employee in the financial aid office at BRTC, or who otherwise has responsibilities with respect to education loans or other student financial aid at BRTC, and who serves on an advisory board, commission, or group established by a lender, guarantor, or group of lenders or guarantors, shall be prohibited from receiving anything of value from the lender, guarantor, or group of lenders or guarantors, except that the employee may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in serving on such advisory board, commission, or group.
Students who withdraw from the College will receive a prorated refund of fees and tuition, according to the following schedule:
- During first week of classes : 100 percent
- During second week of classes: 70 percent
During third week of classes: 50 percent - After third week: none
Official Withdrawal
If a student is officially withdrawing, the student should visit their student portal to access their class schedule; An option to drop an individual class is available. This procedure will enable Black River Technical College to refund the maximum possible institutional charges. Notification from the Registrar’s Office to the Financial Aid Office is made regarding the student’s date of withdrawal. Federal formula requires a return of Title IV aid if the student received federal financial assistance in the form of a Pell Grant or Stafford Loan and withdrew on or before completing 60% of the semester. The percentage of Title IV aid to be returned is equal to the number of calendar days remaining in the semester divided by the number of calendar days in the semester. Schedule breaks of five or more consecutive days are excluded.
Unofficial Withdrawal
If a student withdraws unofficially and receives all “F’s” at the end of the semester, the last date of attendance is noted on the final grade roster by the instructor and used to calculate unearned funds.. If the latest date listed on the grade roster is the last day of semester, the “F” received is considered an academic grade rather than an Unofficial Withdrawal and funds are considered “earned”. For those students who are required to return funds to the Department of Education, BRTC will pay this debt on student’s behalf and we will charge the amount back to the student. A student may owe funds to BRTC and the U.S. Department of Education. If a student owes a refund to the U.S. Department of Education they may call 1-800-621-3115 to resolve his/her overpayment.
Leave of Absence
BRTC does not grant students leave of absences.
ALL refund checks, with the exception of loan checks, will be mailed to the student’s most current address on file.
- Please be sure to verify your mailing address that we have on file by checking MyBRTC and if it is not current, you should update it by submitting an address change through MyBRTC.
- MyBRTCt will continue to reflect a message regarding refunds that will now indicate that a refund has been mailed to you.
BRTC Faculty & Staff will use the student email accounts (GMAIL) as a way of communication to our students. Activate your BRTC student email account if you have not already.
Student email accounts will be used for notifications from the following departments:
- Business Office
- Student Account Statements
- Notifications of when refunds have been mailed
- Financial Aid Office
- Award Letters
- Missing Documentation
- Registrar’s Office
- Deadlines for Adding/Dropping classes, etc…
PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR STUDENT EMAIL ACCOUNT!!!!
If a student withdraws or is expelled from Black River Technical College, then the school or the student may be required to return some of the federal funds awarded to the student. The student may also be eligible for a refund of a portion of the tuition and fees paid to Black River Technical College for the semester. Black River Technical College’s Refund Policy exists for calculating the refund of institutional charges.
“Return of Title IV Funds” Formula
The federal “Return of Title IV Funds” formula dictates the amount of Federal Title IV aid that must be returned to the federal government by the school and the student. The federal formula is applicable to a student receiving federal aid if
- the student officially withdraws on or before the 60% point in time in the semester OR
- if a student unofficially withdraws from classes during a semester and receives “F’s” as final grades in all courses.
The amount of aid earned is based on the student’s withdrawal date:
- either the student’s date of request for withdrawal OR
- by the last date of attendance of the semester (if the student ceased attendance during the semester).
Federal Title IV Funds from BRTC are returned to the federal government in the order of loans and Pell Grant when a Return of Title IV Funds calculation is performed.
Post-Withdrawal Disbursement
After a Return of Title IV Funds calculation is determined, it is possible that the student could still be due a post-withdrawal disbursement of the federal financial aid initially awarded. Upon the institution’s knowledge of a student’s withdrawal date, necessary funds are returned to the federal government within 45 calendar days.
