Commencement Information

Student Information

Graduates may park in the lot in front of the RCDC building adjacent to Hwy 304.

Academic attire may be picked up in Pocahontas bookstore during the dates and times announced.

Please note the following about your attire:

  • Graduation caps should be worn at all times during the ceremony.
  • The tassel should hang over the right quadrant of your cap.
  • If you have purchased Phi Theta Kappa regalia, please wear the gold tassel on the cap and your PTK honor cord, which can be picked up on the night of graduation.

Name cards will ensure the announcer calls your name and degree correctly.

  • A card with your name and degree or certificate will be given to you when you line up.
  • Upon entering the stage to receive the diploma, please hand the name card to the announcer at the podium.
  • Some of students may be required to carry an additional card to announce your group.
  • If your number is Yellow, you may need an additional card.
  • Lines will form in the banquet room.
  • The line-of-march will be in alphabetical order by department.
  • There will be a number on your name card to guide you in lining up.
  • Commencement marshals will lead you to the reserved seating area.
  • You should remain standing until instructed to sit.
  • Degrees are conferred by Dr. Martin Eggensperger, President.
  • You will proceed to the platform to receive your diploma cover from the President
    • When you receive your diploma cover from the President, while shaking hands with him, pause and look at the camera at the front of the state for a photo. 
    • Continue across the platform, making sure to be careful near the edge of the stage.
    • Return to your seat.

Photos

BRTC officials will be taking photos of you receiving your diploma from the President.

  • Within 1 week, all photos of graduation and commencement will be available on BRTC's Flickr site.
  • Photos are free for you to download and use as you please.

Video

In some cases, your graduation or commencement may be LiveStreamed on BRTC's Facebook page.  Generally, the Fall and Spring main commencements are LiveStreamed.

LiveStreams are usually saved to BRTC's Facebook page and available for your use.

  • Diplomas will be mailed to graduates following the commencement ceremony.
  • Diplomas will be mailed to the address you indicated on your intent to graduate form upon confirmation of the completion of your degree.
  • If your address has changed since you remitted your intent form, please call the Associate Registrar, listed below.

  • Follow directions from the parking marshals

Taking photos and videos of your graduate is encouraged. 

  • When your graduate walks across the state, you may stand at the front of the stage and take your own photos and videos.  We just ask that you make room for the BRTC officials who are also taking photos with you.

Official BRTC Photos and Videos

BRTC officials will be taking photos of graduates receiving their diplomas from the President.
