Medical Office Administration

The Medical Office Administration degree will allow students who are interested in both the medical and the business fields to fulfill their career goals to work in a medical profession while utilizing business skills.

The business portion of this degree will encompass courses that will teach students how to perform the business office duties in a healthcare setting.  Health information individuals may work in medical clinics where they also have to perform office duties such as keyboarding and editing correspondence, scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, filing medical records, handling the mail, greeting patients, assisting the billing department, etc. They must be proficient with computers and various computer software applications.

Moreover, it is essential that health information individuals possess good communication skills as they will become the liaison person between the medical clinic and the insurance companies and other medically-related businesses and establishments.

The medical segment of this degree plan will include courses in medical coding, medical transcription, and anatomy and physiology.
