Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) summer practical nursing graduates donated $1,066 to the BRTC Foundation Florence Nightingale Scholarship.

“The Florence Nightingale scholarship is given to a second semester nursing student who is passionate and dedicated to the profession of nursing and who exudes excellence in the delivery of direct patient care. It represents nursing students who exemplify the spirit of caring embodied by Florence Nightingale,” Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Jason Linam said. “These students are motivators and visionaries who contribute to the redefining of the profession of nursing. The award is an opportunity to recognize outstanding talents, skills, efforts and behaviors exemplified by a specified nursing student.”

According to brtc.org, the Nightingale Scholarship is sponsored by the BRTC nursing faculty and staff and is awarded to practical nursing students in their second semester of the program. Recipients are chosen based on qualities that exemplify the spirit of caring embodied by Florence Nightingale. These nurses are motivators and visionaries who contribute to the redefining of the profession of nursing.
