Peco Foods Inc. Representative Visits BRTC CTC Students

Career, Technical, and Concurrent (CTC) students in the welding, auto body, auto service, machine tool, and industrial electricity programs were visited by Peco Foods Inc. Resources Director Kerry Newcomb-Human on Nov. 4.

Newcomb-Human spoke to the CTC students about factory positions they have trained for within the local Peco poultry plant in Pocahontas that are currently vacant. “Often students just think that factory work is working on a production line, and that just isn’t so,” said CTC Director Darenda Kersey.

Newcomb-Human shared information with students about the various departments within Peco as well as the many different kinds of positions they could be employed performing.

It’s important for the students to see, “how the skills they are learning in their technical programs transfer to the workforce,” Kersey added.

Newcomb-Human also outlined performance expectations including attendance policies, team player responsibilities and being accountable for their work and attitude.
