Negro League Player Dennis Biddle to Speak

Black River Technical College along with the Eddie Mae Herron Center are hosting former professional Negro League player Dennis Biddle on Thursday, February 22 at 10 a.m. in the Randolph County Development Center at BRTC.

Biddle will share his story of being the youngest player to ever play in the league.  He was born in Magnolia, Arkansas and upon graduation he decided to pursue his dream of playing professional baseball.  At the age of 17 he went to play for the Chicago American Giants as their pitcher.  He quickly helped them win his first 5 games of the 1953 season.  He only played one more year before being injured in training camp.  The injury ended his career.

While Biddle had a short career in baseball he made a distinct mark.  He was inducted into the Wall of Honor at the Milwaukee Miller Park Stadium on June 2, 2006.  He was a History Makers Library of Congress honoree in 2016 and entered into the Congressional Record as the youngest to play in the Negro Baseball League.
