Jason Smith J.D., BRTC’s Vice President of Student Affairs

POCAHONTAS, AR Sept. 7— Jason Smith J.D., BRTC’s Vice President of Student Affairs, recently gave a presentation at the Arkansas Association of Collegiate Registrar and Admissions Officers’ (ArkACRAO) conference in North Little Rock. Smith conducted his presentation on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Smith says that he was honored to have been asked to give a presentation over such an important topic in higher education. He states, \”I am humbled to be recently given the opportunity to speak to the annual gathering of registrars from around the state of Arkansas. Over the last decade, I have dedicated my career interest to legal issues such as FERPA, in which higher education professionals are presented daily. I am hopeful my years of experience and my teaching background allowed me to shed some light on some of the more difficult nuances of the law regarding the privacy of student information. I am thankful for the tireless work and dedication of the registrars of the state of Arkansas\’s higher education institutions.\” Smith plans to continue to present on legal issues surrounding higher education law in Arkansas in the future.

Smith, a 2010 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law, has taught higher education law for the past five years at Arkansas State University where he serves as an adjunct graduate instructor for the College Student Personnel Services program.
