Instructional Designer

Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Instructional Designer on the Pocahontas Campus. This position is a full-time, temporary, non-classified grant position with the possibility of expanded grant funds for future years.

Position Description

The Instructional Designer works under the supervision of the Director of Distance Education and Instructional Technology.  The primary responsibilities of the Instructional Designer include weekly visits to Career and Technical Educational (CTE) and Carl Perkins approved classrooms and shops; weekly collaboration with specified faculty; mapping, planning, and developing engaging, interactive learning activities and course content; filming and photography for use in creating faculty-led videos/audios, test questions, and other resources; designing and developing online classes for specified courses; assisting other faculty with questions, and responsible for other duties as assigned by the Director of Distance Education and Instructional Technology.  The Instructional Designer may be required to travel to all BRTC instructional locations.

Minimum Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a baccalaureate degree and/or other experience is required, but a master’s degree is preferred with a major in instructional design or a related field.  Preference will be given to applicants with prior LMS experience and with experience creating online content in an educational setting.  Applicants should be willing to continue their education through professional development.
