Hunter Brown Teaching CTC Students

PARAGOULD, AR Feb. 17— Hunter Brown, pipe welding Instructor for Black River Technical College and the Greene County Industrial Training Center, spoke to BRTC’s Career & Technical students on Friday, January 22. Brown has been a pipe welder and an underwater pipe welder for 12 years. When he is not working on the road, he spends his time teaching his skills to students who are looking to enter the profession.

Brown shared the pros and cons of the career with the students. He stated that he enjoys the field because he gets to travel the country, and he never performs the same tasks every day. He also told students that this is a great field to enter to earn a good living, explaining that entry-level pipe welders can earn $30/hour and $100/per diem.

BRTC\’s pipe welding program runs for 16 weeks at a cost of $7900. The next class will begin in June. For enrollment information, contact Dana Bradford, Director of Corporate & Community Education, at 870-248-5210.
