High School Students Introduced to BRTC’s CDL Program

CTC Student in the CDL Simulator

POCAHONTAS, AR May 11— BRTC’s Career and Technical Center (CTC) students, high school juniors and seniors enrolled in college classes, recently visited the Corporate and Community Education Department at BRTC to hear about its CDL program.

Patti Blaxton, Director of Corporate and Community Education, told the students about the 5-week CDL program and how they can get assistance to cover the expense of the program. She explained that the CDL program is one of the few programs that BRTC offers where a student can learn an in-demand skill in a short amount of time and then earn a starting salary near $50,000.

At the end of the session, the students also got to experience driving an 18-wheeler via the new CDL simulator. For more information about the program, contact Patti Blaxton by phone at (870) 248-4000 ext. 4181 or by email at pattib@blackrivertech.edu.
