First Student Recognition Ceremony Held

BRTC’s first Student Recognition Ceremony was held April 26 in the Randolph County Development Center.  The purpose of the event, according to BRTC President Dr. Wayne Hatcher, was to recognize BRTC students, faculty and staff who have achieved beyond that which is normally expected – with students being the focus.

High honors went to recipients of the President’s Awards of Distinction for Excellence in Leadership:  Priscilla Stillwell, who is the Academic Coordinator and a faculty member at BRTC-Paragould, and BRTC student Jason Moseley.  Recognized with a President’s Award of Distinction for Excellence in Service was student Michael Secrest.

The evening included announcement of BRTC’s Academic All-Star, Trent Morledge, who will receive a scholarship for his final two years of study as a result of the selection.

Other All-Star honorees through the Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges (AATYC) Award were also recognized.  They are:  Outstanding Alumnus, Susan Johnson; Outstanding Faculty, Sandra Williams; and Outstanding Staff, Jessie Tunstall. These recipients will be honored at the AATYC annual convention to be held this coming fall in Hot Springs.

Other awards presented were Academic and Technical Department Awards, BRTC Top Student Awards, President’s Award of Excellence, President’s Awards of Distinction, Student Organization Awards, Career Pathways Award, Online Student Award, and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
