Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Financial Aid Advisor. This is a full-time, non-classified twelve-month position.
Position Description
The Financial Aid Advisor reports to the Director of Financial Aid and works collaboratively with BRTC financial aid team as well as the Division of Student Affairs.
This position will require a working knowledge of the overall operation of the Student Financial Aid Office. The primary goal of the Financial Aid Analyst is to advise and assist with securing financial resources necessary for students to acquire an education. The individual will counsel with students and parents, in multiple capacities, regarding application processes for various types of student aid. Excellent customer service skills are essential.
The position will be located on the BRTC Paragould campus.

Specific Responsibilities
Understands needs analysis used to determine aid eligibility for students. Be able to interpret and explain award eligibility to students.
Must acquire a good understanding of financial aid policies, both federally mandated and institutional, to ensure accurate application of knowledge to student situations.
Moderate amount of public speaking about financial aid will be required for various campus events and high school Financial Aid Nights in the Paragould area.
Be able to advise students of all available programs for financial assistance based on specific student needs or situations.
Must be available to assist students requesting help in completing the FAFSA and other financial aid forms/applications.
Assists the Admission Counselor with administering the institutional scholarship offers to incoming freshmen.
Assistance with federal and/or state reporting.
Coordinates the Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals committee for the BRTC Paragould campus.
Minimal cross-training with Admissions will be required for a seamless experience for the student.
Must possess a work ethic that encompasses a self-motivated attitude and willingness to work independently. After-work hours may be necessary during seasonal times.
In addition to the financial aid duties, this position will be cross-trained in basic Registrar processes and serve as the Office of the Registrar representative on the Paragould Campus.
Other duties may become assigned in the future as the financial aid industry changes regarding federal policies and requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a Baccalaureate degree is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field preferred. Financial Aid Office experience preferred.
