Eggensperger and Jacobson Attend Cybersecurity Summit

Black River Technical College (BRTC) President Dr. Martin Eggensperger and IT Director Shannon Jacobson attended a cybersecurity summit held by Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin.

Jacobson said the pair attended the summit to “get a better picture of what threats others are seeing in the IT landscapes.” They learned about the complexity of cyber attacks and how cyber attackers are using social media to target younger audiences. Speakers also told them about the focus Arkansas has on the social engineering aspect of cybersecurity and is trying to find ways to educate the youth about cyber-attacks.

The summit was held at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock and had several guest speakers, one of them being Director of U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Jen Easterly.
