Welding Instructor Ross Crain recently finished teaching his first Black River Technical College (BRTC) Structural Steel and Pipe Welding course.

The program consists of six phases of welding and procedures. After the course, students can excel in career paths like structural steel welding, tube or pipe welding, welding inspector, and engineering. Structural steel pipe welding is offered through BRTC’s Workforce Training program as a non-credit program but will be eligible for 18 credit hours in the fall. The next cohort will begin in January 2026.

BRTC works closely with local and state workforce development agencies and area economic development initiatives to serve the needs of businesses and industries within Clay, Greene, Lawrence, and Randolph counties in developing workforce programs which benefit the workforce and employers. Workforce Training offers training in Pocahontas, Paragould, Piggott, and online. BRTC is proud to serves as the sole provider of education for the Greene County Industrial Training Council (GCITC).
