    This course combines 2000 OJT hours with 152 clock hours focusing on appropriate calculations and applications under the supervision of a Master Electrician. Students will use the classroom to learn load calculations for feeders and services, specialty transformers, and medium-voltage terminations/slices. This course will also include electrical requirements for health care facilities, standby/emergency systems and fire alarm systems. Advanced controls will also be explored that include HVAC controls, heat tracing, freeze protection, and motor operation and maintenance.  An apprentice must successfully complete a minimum of 576 hours of instruction and attain 8,000 hours of OJT before they are able to take the Journeyman Electrician Test.

    Year 2 will move into more complex installations and technical calculations. Reading commercial drawings and structural penetrations, techniques for installing and testing DWV piping and water supply piping. The students will learn installation and servicing of fixtures, valves and faucets. Introduction to water heaters and fuel gas/oil systems, along with introduction to basic electricity for plumbers.  Students are required to complete 640 classroom hours over a 4-year period to learn the skills to work in the plumbing industry.  They are also required to complete 8,000 On the Job Training hours under the supervision of a master plumber in order to be released to test for their license.

    Year 3 focuses on high-level math and specialized plumbing applications which include complex math for calculating offsets and sizing systems. Sizing water supply piping and potable water treatment and disinfection. The student will be introduced to backflow prevention (devices and installation) and fire popping. Pump installations and maintenance of sewage pumps and sump pumps, as well as the detailed study of different venting types and sizing for storm systems. Students are required to complete 640 classroom hours over a 4-year period to learn the skills to work in the plumbing industry.  They are also required to complete 8,000 On the Job Training hours under the supervision of a master plumber in order to be released to test for their license.
