Black River Technical College (BRTC) Director of Career Pathways Margo Davis and Marketing Specialist Michael Guthrey recently traveled to Little Rock where the duo attended a marketing workshop entitled “Utilizing the Marketing Potential of Arkansas Career Pathways for Collegewide Recruiting and Promotion.”

Twenty-five two-year colleges from across the state of Arkansas attended the workshop, but only six participated in the Shark Tank style competition. Each college developed and pitched a local marketing plan designed with their college in mind to a group of “Sharks” in hopes of receiving grant money for their college’s Career Pathways department’s marketing campaigns.

BRTC’s Davis and Guthrey won $4,000, out of $25,000 given away, to be spent on BRTC Career Pathways marketing.

Shark Tank members were US Bank Arkansas District Manager Kevin Chaloner, Arkansas Travelers Director of Marketing and Promotions Bradley Field, City of North Little Rock Director of Communications Shara Hutchcraft, and Arkansas Department of Education Director of Communications Kimberly Mundell.
