BRTC’s 4th Annual Bucks & Ducks Fall Festival Huge Success

Black River Technical College’s 4th Annual Bucks and Ducks Fall Festival was a huge success, with more than 450 students, staff, and faculty in attendance.

Two hundred and seven high school students from Corning, Walnut Ridge, Hoxie, Pocahontas, Maynard, Rector, Marmaduke, and Paragould also attended a preview day held simultaneously, allowing them to get the whole BRTC experience!

Attendees were treated to BBQ, games, and treats. Inflatable axe-throwing, bull riding and pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, and a cake/pie-making contest were the highlights of the day.

The winners of the pie/cake-making contests are as follows. In the cake category, best taste went to BRTC Marketing Specialist Michael Guthrey for his German Chocolate Cake, and the best presentation went to Payroll Specialist Stacy Ingram for her Chocolate Cupcakes. In the pie category, best taste went to Julie Williams for her Cherry-O Cream Pie and best presentation went to Jessica Stout for her Key Lime Pie.

The winner of the pumpkin carving was Julie Reeves. The winner of the pumpkin painting contest was Tigarre Johnson.

“I am thankful to the countless faculty and staff members who helped put on this event,” said Vice President of Student Affairs Jason Smith. “In addition, I am especially thankful to this year’s pie and cake judges Mitch Hovis, Susie Eddington, and Alex Bigger who heroically served their community by making the sacrifices necessary to judge said homemade pies and cakes! It’s a hard job but someone has to take one for the team!”
