BRTC’s 2020 Outstanding Alumni Announced

Stephanie Nichols

POCAHONTAS, AR. Nov. 5— Monday, October 12, Stephanie Nichols of Pocahontas was honored at the Arkansas Community College (ACC) Outstanding Alumni Banquet. The outstanding alumni named at the other 22 public Arkansas 2-year colleges were also honored.

Stephanie Nichols has a love for education and believes a quality education is a gift.  She has a Master of Arts in Journalism degree from the University of Arkansas and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arkansas School of Law.  She is a practicing attorney and has worked in the fields of commercial litigation, business law, public policy, and governmental relations.

She also formerly worked in higher education administration for ASU-Beebe.  She says, “Black River Technical College helped launch my work life earlier by allowing me to graduate with my bachelor’s degree in 3 years instead of 4 due to its excellent concurrent enrollment program and its availability of summer classes.  More than anything, though, I really love the special people of Black River Technical College.”

Nichols has a passion for the Constitution and public policy and now works with state legislatures throughout the country on free speech and freedom of religion issues for a Christian ministry.

She loves being a mother to her five children and a wife to her husband, Mark Nichols, an electrical engineer who is also an alumnus of Black River Technical College.
