Black River Technical College (BRTC) is excited to announce it will be co-hosting the 30th Annual Delta Symposium with Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Memphis native Dr. Alan Lightman, writer, physicist, and social entrepreneur. Lightman will be introduced by BRTC President Dr. Martin Eggensperger and will present “Einstein and His Theory of Time”. His address will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, and will be in the Carl R. Reng Student Union auditorium.

Lightman graduated from Princeton University in 1970 with a degree in physics, and then received a doctoral degree in theoretical physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1974. He has instructed at Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he is currently a professor of the humanities.

The Delta Symposium is an annual showcase for creative and scholarly works that focus heavily on the culture and history of the Delta. This year’s theme of “It’s About Time” will focus on “the culture of the Delta as interest in time shows up in romanticism, modernism, historical fiction, and contemporary literary expression.”
