BRTC Students Win in 5th Annual Got Talent

Performing “Smooth Criminal,” Linda Bland, Max Vandergriff, and Haley Peoples, with Braden McKinney, Marilyn Hogan, and Bryer Moore, won first place in 5th annual BRTC’s Got Talent held in the RCDC building of Black River Technical College’s Pocahontas campus on Thursday, November 3. They won $500 for first place.

The competition consisted of 25 students from Pocahontas and Paragould campuses and was free for the public to attend. Talents included singing, dancing, a flag line routine, and instrumental solos.

Receiving 2nd place were Betty Woodard and Kimberly Castelan with their comedy act. Third place went to Jacob Tippitt performing “Slip on By.” Laurel Gaither was awarded fourth place for clogging to “Thrift Shop.”  Fifth place went to Kimberly Castelan for singing “Feel the Nails.”  The Audience Choice Award went to Paige Davis and Disa Tierce for signing, “Something Bad.”

Event coordinators were Lisa Inman, Elizabeth Collins, and Ashely Hall, all English instructors.  Emcee for the evening was Thom Fielder.
