BRTC Representatives Attend & Present at HLC Conference

Black River Technical College (BRTC) President Dr. Martin Eggensperger, Vice President of Student Affairs Jason Smith, and Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness Sissy Gray recently traveled to Chicago where they presented at The Higher Learning Commission 2024 annual conference.

The trio’s presentation was entitled “From Sanction to Distinction” highlighting the process by which BRTC navigated away from probation to accreditation without sanction or monitoring.  First, they detailed the “Do the Right Thing” approach to accreditation.

Next, they provided tangible steps and resources an institution can use to prepare for an upcoming accreditation review. The timelines and resources continue to be shared via a webpage added to BRTC’s website that can be found at  https://blackrivertech.edu/about/accreditation/prep.

In addition to presenting, the trifecta attended other sessions on accreditation-related matters. Their goal was to ensure BRTC administration is aware of changes to federal policy and accreditation requirements that impact the institution.
