BRTC Receives Award from Corning Chamber of Commerce

Black River Technical College (BRTC) was awarded “Most Commercial Float” by Corning Chamber of Commerce.

Every 4th of July, a homecoming parade is held for the community of Corning, Arkansas. For the past five years Erin Matthews, an admissions counselor for BRTC, has represented the college in the parade. However, this was the college’s first year to win the award.

BRTC’s Hummer was well liked by the judges and was named “Most Commercial Float” at a Chamber of Commerce banquet. Matthews accepted the award from Sherry Taylor, secretary for Corning Chamber of Commerce, on a later date.

Matthews said she takes the Hummer to the parade because it is a good way to reach out to the Corning community and get the word out about BRTC. She also uses the Hummer for any other parade that the college takes part in.
