BRTC Practical Nursing Students Raise Money for Leave a Legacy Scholarships

POCAHONTAS, AR October 25, 2019 – During October, BRTC’s practical nursing students held a
fundraiser to support supporting mental health awareness. They sold green mental health awareness
ribbons and donated all proceeds to the Leave a Legacy Scholarship program which will support next
year’s practical nursing graduates.

In May 2015, the graduating practical nursing (PN) class realized the financial hardship many PN
students faced during the last semester of the nursing program. They decided to create the Leave a
Legacy Scholarship to help future PN students in their last semester. This scholarship helps students pay
for fees associated with the Arkansas State Board of Nursing licensure. Each graduating class has
continued the legacy through fundraising activities.
