BRTC Phlebotomy Students Achieve 88% Pass Rate

Black River Technical College's (BRTC) Pocahontas and Paragould phlebotomy students achieved an 88% pass rate on the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam.

According to Stepful.com, the CPT Exam has a 2-hour limit to complete 100 questions. The questions cover topics like operational standards, patient preparation, equipment, storing samples, and medical terminology. Students taking the exam must make a score of at least 390 to pass the exam and become a CPT. CPTs can work in hospitals, clinics, blood donation centers, and other healthcare facilities.

BRTC's phlebotomy program prepares individuals to draw blood samples from patients using a variety of invasive procedures. After completing the program students should be able to demonstrate competency in collecting blood samples, apply knowledge of venous anatomy, and illustrate clinical safety.
