BRTC Nursing Department Speaks at Monthly Senior Networking Meeting in Paragould

Black River Technical College (BRTC) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Instructor Andrea Ellis, ADRN, and Nursing/Allied Health Academic Advisor Dana Clay, BA, presented information about the BRTC CNA classes, and Nursing/Allied Health programs recently at the Senior Networking monthly meeting at Cadence Bank in Paragould.

Ellis discussed program details such as the CNA program offered at both the Paragould and Pocahontas locations. The program prepares students for state licensing exams and has an overall pass rate of 90.32 percent from April to December 2022. Sponsorships are available for many students through area employers, also other types of support for students may be acquired through BRTC Workforce and Career Pathways.

There are 5-week courses and 8-week courses available, two available each Spring and Fall Semester and one each summer semester.

The next CNA course available at the BRTC Paragould location is a newly offered night class that will begin July 5 and end on Aug. 4. Classes are from 4:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with possible Fridays, and clinical days are held from 2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.

The summer course at BRTC’s Pocahontas location will begin on May 30 and end on June 29. Classes are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and clinical days are held from 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Nursing/Allied Health Academic Advisor Dana Clay also briefly explained the Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Paramedic, Respiratory Care, Dietary Manager/CDM, EMT and Phlebotomy courses offered at both BRTC locations.
