BRTC Instructional Technologist Keri Zimmer Presents at Mountain Moot Conference

Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) Instructional Technologist for the Distance Education and Instructional Technology department, Keri Zimmer, attended the Mountain Moot conference in Helena, Montana, in July.

While attending the conference, Zimmer presented to almost 100 attendees about Creating Inviting Discussion Questions Using AI. Zimmer also co-presented with Rachel Martin, Instructional Designer at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, on the topic of Generative AI Concerns.

“It was exciting to present to my fellow Moodlers and to have in-depth conversations about enhancing BRTC’s Moodle site,” Zimmer said. She said the best part of the conference was networking with other Moodle experts and administrators and learning more about the system.

However, Zimmer will not be the only person to benefit from her newly gained knowledge. Regina Moore, Director of Distance Education, said the students will also be able to see how the new information will be put to use. Zimmer will be able to apply administrative supports to BRTC’s Moodle, which will aid in the configuration of the site, and how course shells are delivered. Moore said the supports will make courses easier to navigate by having a “unified look and feel.”
