PARAGOULD, AR. Oct. 13. Black River Technical College hosted a Census Day as the 2020 Census deadline was approaching.

Census worker, Frank Staples of Piggott, set up on the Paragould campus on September 28th and on the Pocahontas campus on September 29th and took census information from students, faculty, and staff who had not completed the 2020 Census.

According to the information handed out on campus, “Census data impacts funding for things like: education programs and grants, public transportation, Medicare and Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, libraries, community centers, school meal programs, parks, playgrounds, and recreational facilities.”

Priscilla Stillwell, Executive Director of Paragould, stated, “BRTC is honored to play a part in making sure federal money comes to Greene, Randolph, and surrounding counties.”
