BRTC Hosts Annual CTC and Concurrent Educators Advisory Meeting

Black River Technical College (BRTC) recently hosted its Career and Technical Center (CTC) and Concurrent program partners for its BRTC Annual advisory meeting.

Darenda Kersey, Director of Career, Technical, and Concurrent Education, shared important information with them including the new ATLAS test scores will be accepted as an entrance exam in future semesters although the cut scores have not yet been determined.

She also shared information about the recent Department of Labor grant that BRTC has been awarded which will focus on recruiting minority students into the healthcare programs by providing transportation, translation services, and lunch vouchers.

A few CTC seniors also attended the meeting and shared their experiences in the CTC program.

Senior Pocahontas High School and allied health student Zion DosSantos said, “I did not really know what this program was when I first enrolled. It was so much more than I thought it would be. I wish I could go back and tell all of the students at PHS about it and why they should take advantage of it.”

DosSantos has completed all but one of the prerequisites for the RN program via CTC and concurrent courses. She has applied for the RN program that will begin in Fall.
