BRTC Group Visits Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland

From May 18 to 27, 10 BRTC staff and community members traveled for 10 days to Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland.  The trip is part of the BRTC’s annual International Tour series designed to provide the opportunity for international travel to BRTC employees, students, and community members.

The trip was led by Karen Liebhaber, BRTC Vice President of Institutional Advancement, and included BRTC bookstore manager Janice Harvey, Board of Trustee and Foundation Board member Ruth Ann Ellis, and community members Vicky Powers, Pat Jones, and Gena Farrin of Pocahontas; Jeri Powers of Nashville, Indiana; Nancy Smith of Memphis, Tennessee; Jackie Shaw of Walnut Ridge; and Denise Young of Alton, Missouri.

Among the highlights of the trip were visits to the Olymipic Park and the Marienplatz in Munich, Germany; the Dachau concentration camp in Dachau, Germany; Neuschwanstein castle, the inspiration for Disney’s Cinderella’s castle in Bavaria, Germany; downtown Innsbruck, Austria; St. Mark’s Square and a Murano glass-blowing demonstration in Venice, Italy; and downtown Como, Italy.

The group spend an afternoon atop Mount Rigi in Lucerne, Switzerland and enjoyed an evening folklore event.  They travelled through the Black Forest to Heidelberg to view the castle ruins and gargantuan Heidelberg wine barrel.

Dring spring break 2018, Dr. Dereck and Courtney Clements will lead a trip to Paris, Normandy, and London.  In May 2019, Liebhaber will lead a trip to Australia and New Zealand.
