BRTC CTC Partners with NASA HUNCH

Center:  Bob Zeek

BRTC is 1 of only 2 schools in Arkansas to participate in NASA HUNCH, a program that partners with high schools to empower and inspire students through a project-based learning program.  Bob Zeek, co-founder of NASA HUNCH, visited Black River Technical College (BRTC) to speak with high school students enrolled in the BRTC Career and Technical Center about their new partnership.

NASA HUNCH stands for High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware.  High school students design and fabricate flight products needed for NASA.  BRTC’s first project will focus on machining the casing needed for power supplies which will be used on the International Space Station. All materials will be provided by NASA. Mr. Zeek shared project blueprints with students at this initial meeting.

Currently, 2.575 students at 277 schools in 44 states participate.  Some of the projects students have worked on in the past include International Space Station single stowage lockers, International Space Station footpads for the crew, and a variety of culinary items.
