BRTC CTC Alumna Spotlight: Madison Jones

Black River Technical College (BRTC) Career and Technical Center (CTC) Alumna Madison Jones of Walnut Ridge is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at ProMed Ambulance Services.

She earned a certificate of proficiency in BRTC’s CTC EMT program in the Spring of 2023 and passed the National Registry exam directly after.

Jones said her high school counselor, Mrs. Finley, introduced her to the BRTC CTC program after she expressed interest in becoming an EMT during the first semester of her senior year.

“I liked the idea of being a first responder and I’ve always loved to help people. I realized that being an EMT would allow me to do that as a career,” Jones said. “I enjoy everything about being an EMT. Helping people as much as I can while on-site and then transporting them to get more specialized care allows me to play an important role in such a crucial time in their lives.”

While attending classes at BRTC she heard about ProMed Ambulance Services through her instructor and then later ProMed was recommended by a close family friend, so she reached out. “As soon as I finished my interview with them, I knew I wanted to work there,” Jones said.

“I am so excited for Madison! It truly makes me so happy when I see CTC students get their education through this program, then put it to use,” said Director of Career, Technical, and Concurrent Education Darenda Kersey. “That’s what it’s all about!

In her free time, Jones enjoys martial arts and performing in community theater. She is also still enrolled full-time as a BRTC student.
