POCAHONTAS, AR June 6, 2019 – The Merle R. Young Scholarship has been awarded to Julia Martin, of Paragould, for the summer of 2019. This scholarship is in memory of the late Merle R. Young and awards $500 to a Black River Technical College registered nursing student.

Martin is the daughter of Chester and Monette Johnson. She has two sons, Zach and Michael. She graduated from Ridgecrest High School in 1988 and is currently working towards an Associate of Applied Science degree in Registered Nursing.
