Automotive Collision Instructor Larry “Butch” Dail has retired from Black River Technical College (BRTC) after 38 years of service.

BRTC held a retirement reception for Dail on the Pocahontas campus where family, friends, and co-workers came to celebrate his milestone. Dr. Brad Baine, Vice President of Academic Affairs, thanked everyone for attending and read a few remarks from faculty members.

“His old-fashioned common-sense approach to resolving issues and trouble shooting is something that will be missed,” a BRTC faculty member said. Carolyn Collins, BRTC Board of Trustees President, spoke about her time knowing Dail and commended him for his service. Also speaking about Dail was a former student, a friend, and his son.

BRTC’s Automotive Repair Technology program has two 1-year specialty certificates for cosmetic repair and structural repair. During this program students gain knowledge in both specialties through hands-on experience. Students learn about structural alignment, dent removal, and other relevant skills through the courses. These and other skills are taught via industry-current collision-related computer programs.
