PARAGOULD, AR April 21— On April 2, Shane Baldwin, Black River Technical College alum and former structural steel and pipe welding instructor for the Paragould Corporate and Community Education Department, stopped by the BRTC welding shop to work on a special project.

Baldwin, current superintendent of Thompson Construction in Osceola, volunteered to repair a Jonesboro veteran’s wheelchair. The wheelchair was originally built for the disabled veteran to be able to enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle. The veteran had been having some issues with the wheelchair, so Baldwin offered to use his skills to repair the wheelchair.

BRTC is thankful that its alumni, faculty, and staff continually use their skills to give back to the communities they serve. Baldwin stated that he is grateful for opportunities to serve others, and added, “I didn’t think I would be where I am now when I started this journey at Black River Tech over eleven years ago.”
