BRTC Allied Health Hosts “Scary Sim Lab” for Students and Community

BRTC Phlebotomy Instructor Erin Faulkner scares students as they make their way through the scary sim lab

Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) allied health department hosted a scary sim lab for BRTC students and the local community for Halloween on the Pocahontas campus.

Approximately 175 participants followed clues through an interactive haunted house. BRTC students in various allied health programs, such as CNA, EMT, Phlebotomy, and Respiratory Care followed QR codes that led to program-specific tasks that were completed before progressing to the next section of the haunted lab.

Nursing Simulation Lab Facilitator Bridgette Kasinger said the haunted sim lab was started by Director of Clinical Education/Respiratory Care Instructor Jessica Alphin several years ago and the haunted lab has grown each year since. She added, “it is a fun way to keep students excited about learning.”
