POCAHONTAS, AR—Aug. 31–On August 13, 2020, BRTC’s Allied Health faculty learned that a group of their colleagues had participated in a challenge called “10,000 Steps in Their Shoes” which was instituted by GORUCK, an American brand founded by a Green Beret. The letter recognized that healthcare professionals average 10,000 steps a day and pledged to run, walk, or ruck 10,000 steps a day for a month in their honor.

GORUCK commemorated a special patch which each healthcare worker and individual who participates in the pledge received. The letter expressed that “as veterans and police officers, patches have meaning to us. They are something to be earned. As such, in recognition of the special bond we share, we would like to present you with one of the patches.”

The BRTC pledging participants include the following:  Ray Patey (U.S. Navy), Rickie Gunn (U.S. Marine Corps), Mark Warnick (U.S. Air Force) Dr. Derek Clements (ARNG), Chris Hankins (Law Enforcement), Daren Plaster (ARNG/Law Enforcement), Mark Mosier (U.S. Army/Law Enforcement), Jared Bassham (ARNG/Law Enforcement), and Ashley Boles (Law Enforcement).
