BRTC food pantry organizer Christina Derbes displays the power strips donated by BRAD
Black River Area Development Corporation (BRAD) donated 108 five outlet advanced smart power strips to the Black River Technical College (BRTC) Food Pantry.
To acquire a power strip, students should contact Dane Dillion at (870) 248-4168, Cami Alexander at (870) 248-4092, or Christina Derbes at (870) 248-4168.
The BRTC Food Pantry has been open since 2016 and has served more than 175 students since its inception. It is a collaboration between the BRTC Student Government Association and the BRTC Nutrition and Dietetics Club.
Many BRTC students and their families struggle to access adequate food. To help students mitigate this need, BRTC accepts donations of food, Walmart and grocery store gift cards, and money to stock the BRTC Food Pantry. BRTC is excited to offer a food pantry to eligible BRTC students with current BRTC ID’s who complete an application.
Donations can be dropped off at BRTC or monetary contributions can be made online at https://brtc.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/brtc/donation.jsp. The Pantry donations submitted through the BRTC Foundation are tax-deductible.
The pantry is always looking for volunteers. “I welcome anyone who would like to come and organize food, check dates, dust, vacuum, or go shopping,” pantry organizer Christina Derbes said.
