BRTC Nutrition and Foodservice Management Students

POCAHONTAS, AR Mar. 4 2021 – Black River Technical College’s Nutrition and Foodservice Management students achieved 100% pass rate on the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) exam.

The students who recently graduated with the Certificate of Proficiency or the Technical Certificate in Nutrition and Foodservice Management were eligible to sit for the exam to become a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM).

As Certified Dietary Managers these students can work in a variety of settings, including but not limited to long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, acute care hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, school nutrition programs, and correctional facilities.

“I am proud of the students. They worked really hard to prepare for this exam. I commend them on this outstanding accomplishment,” states Christian Derbes, Instructor of Nutrition and Foodservice.

Ramonda Housh, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, adds, “The programs\’ successful pass rate is truly a result of Christina\’s hard work and dedication to the students and BRTC. She has transitioned this program from a traditionally delivered Technical Certificate to a Certificate of Proficiency with the option of a traditional or online delivery format. This has enabled students from across the nation to obtain gainful employment in one semester. These changes did not occur without a significant amount of work on Christina\’s part. I am thankful for her forward-thinking and determination to offer such a successful program at BRTC and I am proud of our graduates and their success.”
