BAT Program Coordinator and Instructor Honored

Black River Technical College (BRTC) BAT Program Coordinator Ashley Boles and BRTC BAT Program Instructor Aaron Schenk were presented with certificates of appreciation from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) by NHTSA Region 7 Manager Dean Scott on Dec. 13 at the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Highway Safety Task Force meeting.

The BAT program received this national level recognition for partnering with NHTSA, the National Park Services, and the ASP during the 2022 Labor Day Weekend “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign.” The BAT Mobile was used by National Park Rangers alongside Schenk and Boles to conduct Breath Alcohol Content (BAC) testing and Drug Recognition Evaluations (DRE) during saturation patrols Sept. 1-5 in Hot Springs National Park.
