Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) 2023 Academic All-Star is Ashley Stover-Reed of Biggers.
Stover-Reed earned her GED from the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville in 2004.
While at BRTC, she has served as an officer in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, along with being a member of the Student Government Association.
Stover-Reed has maintained a 4.0 throughout her time at BRTC. She has acquired an Associate of Criminal Justice and General Studies. She is currently working on finishing an Associate of Arts. She then plans to attend Arkansas State University to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Criminology.
“I chose a BA in Sociology, minoring in Criminology, with the intent to help others break the cycle for those who are also disadvantaged throughout the community,” Stover-Reed said.
She is the mother of three boys and one girl; 19-year-old Lucas Webb, 13-year-old Gunner Croney/Reed, 12-year-old Myles Croney/Reed, and 4-year-old Jaxcyn Reed.
“My motivation to return to college has always been my children,” said Stover-Reed. “Going to college as a non-traditional student, working, and raising a family has shown my kids that any one of us can do anything we put our minds to.”
