AR State Board of Nursing Approves Traditional RN Program at BRTC

POCAHONTAS, AR  Jan. 13 — On Thursday, January 9, the Arkansas State Board of Nursing approved Black River Technical College’s proposal to offer an Associate of Applied Science in Registered Nursing via the traditional pathway.

Potential students should apply early because a student’s application date may be the deciding factor in ties in the selection process or in the seating preference.  Interested students may contact BRTC to begin advising.  The application process will begin on February 1 and remain open until April 1.

The traditional pathway, upon completion of prerequisite general studies courses, will enable students to apply for acceptance into a registered nursing program without first being an LPN.  Beginning Fall 2020, students accepted into this daytime program will be able to sit in RN classes at the Pocahontas campus or on-site at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center (AMMC) in Paragould.
