Annual Business Technology Day

The BRTC Business department held its annual Business Technology Day at the Pocahontas campus on Friday, December 9.  The event was organized by business instructor Kellee Hardage with help from Darenda Kersey, Shannon Ogden, Susan Shanlever, Mack Downey, and Technical Education and Business Division Chair Phillip Dickson.  Guest speaker Karen Liebhaber, BRTC Vice President of Institutional Advancement, presented “Hard Skills Get You Hired/Soft Skills Can Get You Fired!”

Ninety-four Business and FBLA students from Walnut Ridge, Hoxie, Sloan-Hendrix, and Rector took FBLA practice exams in business subjects in order to prepare for the state FBLA competitions in the spring.  Students took exams in accounting, parliamentary procedure, banking and financial systems, entrepreneurship, marketing, communication, computer networking, and other business applications.  Students also toured the BRTC campus.

BRTC students Kalea White, Kristin Perez, Courtney Wilson, Christin Holsapple, and Hope Lemmons helped proctor exams, help set up, and tear down.  First National Bank sponsored drinks and snacks for the hospitality room.
