Adult Ed Department Attends & Presents at Conference

The Black River Technical College (BRTC) Adult Education Department recently attended the Association of Adult and Continuing Education Conference in Little Rock.

The conference is held by the Arkansas Association of Continuing Adult Education (AACAE) and was attended by AACAE members BRTC Director of Adult Education Tammie Lemmons, BRTC Adult Education Instructor Elizabeth Thompson, BRTC Adult Education Instructor Sheila Baltz, BRTC SNAP/TANF Coordinator for Adult Education Taylor Collins, and Snap Career Coach Kimberly Campbell.

Some of the workshops attended by BRTC Adult Education included creativity with Canva, accommodations, using LACES and YouTube to achieve student success, engaging and motivating learners to achieve outcomes, and culture begins with leadership.

BRTC Adult Education Instructor Sheila Baltz also led a session during which she gave a presentation entitled “Social Studies: Keeping it Real,” which addressed various ways of making personal connections to improve engagement in student learning.
