BRTC Hosts Paragould 8th Grade for Hard Tech Preview Day

Students visit the Industrial Electricity classroom and hear from Electricity Instructor Joshua Earley.

Black River Technical College (BRTC) recently hosted over 200 Paragould 8th graders on the Pocahontas campus for a Hard Tech Preview Day.

Hard Tech Preview Day is designed to show students the technical programs BRTC has to offer, and which courses they can take during high school through BRTC’s Career and Technical Center (CTC). Programs like Automotive Collision and Service, Gunsmithing, Industrial Electricity, and Welding were featured during the preview day. Students toured the campus facilities and were able to hear directly from experienced, skilled instructors showcasing their craft.

BRTC’s Career and Technical Center is a free program which enables high school juniors and seniors to get a head start on a career after high school. Students can graduate with their high school diploma as well as with a BRTC certificate at the same time, ready to go right into the workforce. The CTC program is funded by the Office of Skills Development.
