Singleton Presents at ACC Conference

Black River Technical College (BRTC) Academic Advisor and ADA Coordinator Zachary Singleton recently presented at the Annual Arkansas Community Colleges (ACC) Conference in Hot Springs. Singleton co-presented with North West Arkansas Community College’s Amy Robertson-Gann.

The presentation was titled “Embracing Neurodiversity: Language, Trends, and Inclusive Practice.” This breakout session introduced the concept of neurodiversity as a celebration of diverse minds. It also explored key trends that are shaping inclusion and equality, and examined the debate around person-first versus identity-first language.

Singleton said attendees gained practical insight into how language and current cultural shifts impact neurodiverse communities in workplaces and beyond. The two also discussed current trends related to neurodiversity in the classroom and explored strategies for supporting students.
