A team from Black River Technical College (BRTC) attended the Juneteenth Festival at Riverfront Park on June 14. The festival was held by the Eddie Mae Herron Center and had multiple different vendors, activities, and performances. Representing BRTC was Jason Smith, Vice President of Student Affairs; Candy Taylor, DOL Grant Project Director; Mark Towell, Academic Counselor; and Drake McGrew, Academic Counselor.

The team was there to support the community and to offer information about what BRTC has to offer. The brought games like football throw and corn hole for people to play as they stopped by the booth. They also gave away a BRTC cooler filled with BRTC merchandise. Jason Smith, Vice President of Student Affairs, gave a speech at the event that highlighted the history and importance of Juneteenth.

Co-branded promotional materials and give away items were designed and prepared by the Office of Institutional Advancement’s Development Specialist Shawna Lepard as part of a partnership between BRTC and the Eddie Mae Herron Center. The Office of Institutional Advancement has been partnering with the Eddie Mae Herron Center since 2011.
