Black River Technical College (BRTC) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Career, Technical, and Concurrent Education. This is a grant funded, full-time, twelve-month position. This position is based on the Pocahontas Campus, but will require travel to the Paragould campus and various high school campuses, as well. This person will work under the supervision of the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Position Description:
The Director of Career, Technical, and Concurrent Education is responsible for concurrent enrollment and assists with campus recruitment initiatives. This individual will collaborate with college instructors to ensure the learning needs of high school students are being met, while taking college courses at BRTC. The director is the primary liaison between the college and respective high schools that have a partnership/agreement with BRTC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops strong working relationship with local high schools to provide students' access to post-secondary opportunities
- Manages all aspects of student enrollment for career, technical, and concurrent courses including: student recruitment, advisement and enrollment
- Manages instructor eligibility, training and evaluation, as determined by the Vice President of Academics
- Plans career, technical, and concurrent student, parent and instructor orientations held annually
- Manages all aspects of marketing and advertising of the career, technical, and concurrent enrollment program
- Develops and maintains strong recruitment of student populations and understanding of diverse student needs
- Maintains membership in National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP)
- Builds collaborative work teams among college/university faculty and high school administration and faculty.
- Maintains a presence in each high school working closely with high school counselor, concurrent instructors, high school principals and high school students
- Monitor, investigate and resolve issue for concurrently enrolled students and faculty
- Plans and develops communication strategies for career, technical, and concurrent enrollment courses offered through BRTC
- Ensures timely and accurate information is given to school administrators, parents and career, technical and concurrent enrollment students
- Maintains relationships with state and national level officials
- Performs annual surveys of alumni, counselors and principals
- Assists with recruitment and admissions activities in support of the College's enrollment initiatives
- Plans and coordinates guest lectures for CTC program
- Performs other work-related responsibilities as required or assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Knowledge of institutions curriculum as well as those of other institutions.
- Knowledge of assessment and placement requirements for all students.
- Knowledge of procedures for recruitment and retention.
- Ability to work with diverse population groups.
- Ability to compile, interpret, organize, and analyze information pertaining to individuals through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources.
- Ability to assist with planning of and implementation of registration and orientation of new and returning students.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree is required, but a Master's Degree is preferred. Must be from an accredited institution of higher education, plus a minimum of three years' experience in advising students in higher education institutions. Experience in a high school setting preferred.
Excellent planning, writing/editorial, communication skills. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, creative, and committed to working in a team environment.

- $20,000 life insurance policy with premium paid by BRTC
- 14% minimum retirement contribution from BRTC each pay period
- 11 paid State Holidays per calendar year if employed full time during the date of those Holidays
