Administrative Specialist for Student Affairs

Black River Technical College is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Specialist for Student Affairs.  This position is a full-time, twelve-month position with a benefits package offered.

Position Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Student Development and Vice-President of Student Affairs, the Administrative Specialist for Student Affairs will serve as an administrative assistant to all divisions of Student Affairs, including: Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Life.  The primary location for this position will be Pocahontas, but some intercampus travel may be required.  Work hours will generally be fixed to BRTC’s daily operations; however, a flexible work schedule may be required during events or as necessary.

Job Summary:

This position will often be the first voice or first person to greet or assist a current or prospective student who reaches out to BRTC.  The person entrusted to this position must be able to demonstrate our Mission, Vision, and Values though voice and interaction, while conducting daily office operations for Student Affairs departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This role centers on high-level customer service, including answering calls, greeting visitors, and directing inquiries.  Key tasks involve updating student records and website information, processing mail, recording meeting minutes, and supporting projects.  Other related duties are assigned as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

This role requires a friendly, professional demeanor; multitasking ability; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; strong communication skills; and competence in English usage. Skills in operating a multi-line switchboard and following directions are also essential.

·         14% minimum retirement contribution from BRTC each pay period

Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of an Associate Degree is preferred.  Experience in customer-service, office management, and/or administrative assistant duties are preferred. Other job-related education and/or professional experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements.
