Black River Technical College’s (BRTC) Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Brad Baine attended the Arkansas Dean’s Association Conference on September 15 and 16. The meeting took place in the Cooper Alumni Center at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

Dr. Baine and other academic leaders of higher education attended the meeting to hear what other leaders have been doing at their colleges. During the meeting Dr. Baine spoke on a panel focused on the challenges and successes in Arkansas’s rural institutions of higher learning. Baine shared BRTC initiatives that have been implemented so other colleges and students could benefit. Some of those initiatives include the number and types of grants BRTC has been awarded, and partnerships with local, state, and regional industries and economic development organizations.

Also attending the meeting was Graycen Bigger, NEA Regional Intermodal Authority director and BRTC Foundation board member. Bigger is also the Chair of the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board. She spoke on a panel discussing Arkansas legislative landscape.

Dr. Baine served as vice president and interim president in 2021-2022 and served as president in 2022-2023. He has also served on the executive committee since 2017.
